We Are Calvary
Calvary Fellowship Ottawa is a downtown-based church located in Canada’s capital. We're a group of diverse people from various backgrounds who desire to know Jesus Christ and be transformed into His image.
Who We Are
We currently meet at the former "German Martin Luther Church" building at 499 Preston St, near Carling Ave. Our services start at 9:30am on Sunday mornings. Bus #85 runs in both directions there, and the O-Train station is a block away. Parking is free on the adjacent streets or at the CIBC across the street, or in one of several paid parking lots further north on Preston St. We also meet throughout the week in a variety of small groups, Bible studies, Prayer Meetings, Outreaches and Discipleship Courses.
We are an independent, non-denominational church, however we enjoy being affiliated with hundreds of other churches through Calvary Chapel.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. (Colossians 3:16, ESV)
What To Expect
The way we “do” church is quite simple. We sing together, we share with one another, we study together and we pray with and for each other.
We start off by singing to God about how thankful we are and how good He is. We then shift from singing our praise, to speaking our praise during something we call “Family Time.” This is an opportunity to open up the floor and allow people to share what the Lord is doing in their lives, and can take the form of a testimony, praise report or a revelation from the Scriptures.
As a church, we are reading through the Bible a chapter a day. Typically, our Bible Study (or sermon) at church will be based on a verse or passage we read during the week. We love the opportunity to fellowship with each other as we’re reading and learning together. To find out where we are in the Bible right now, check out our Facebook page or Twitter feed.
We usually close off our time together by breaking up into groups of 2 and 3, guys with guys and girls with girls and we pray for each other. What a joy to pray with and for each other. It’s really the best way to end a Bible Study and get to know other Christians. In addition, God answers our prayers because of what Jesus did for us on the cross.
