In the opening verses, John the Baptist sends his disciples to ask Jesus if he's the Messiah or if they should look for another. John has been in Herod's dungeon for over a year, and Jesus is sending out more messengers. By the end of the chapter, Jesus is making an open invitation to everyone to "Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." How much does Jesus value John? Will he come and visit him, or help him get out? If this is how Jesus treats John, what are we to expect if we encounter persecution?
